This one thing delivers a massive increase in your sales results

Today’s question is:

What is one thing that you could do in your influence and persuasion practice that would have the biggest impact on the results that you are achieving?

And I don’t know that answer to that particular question for you specifically but I have a pretty good idea of what that answer may be for you in general. And it is what Michael Gerber recommended in this book ‘The E Myth’, the E Myth is the entrepreneurial myth and the entrepreneurial myth is that when you go into business for yourself you are actually creating an enormous amount of freedom in your life. And that is not always the case, many people who are in business or in entrepreneurial careers, like persuasion and influence finds themselves working around the clocks and becoming a slave to their jobs.

So here is an exercise that I want to recommend to you. Set aside an appointment for yourself. And make it a 90 min appointment minimum and your assignment for that particular appointment is to write a story about where you would like to be 1 year from the day you set the appointment. So if you were to set it say on 4 January, then you would say 4 January one year from today. And describe what you would like your Ideal Career Path to look like at this point.

I like the idea of doing it just one year out because that is close enough that its tangible, but its also far enough away that we can still envision ourselves making quantum leaps. And my guess is as you are writing that story, one of the things that you are going to find is that path of the steps you need to take next suddenly seem to be unfurling before your very eyes. And Michael Gerber described this as working on your business instead of in your business.

And obviously I don’t know exactly what you are going to uncover but my guess is, as I have in the past that this is one of the most powerful exercises that you can go through as a persuader.

So I hope you take us up on that, the strategy simply is set aside a minimum of 90 minutes to write a story of your ideal position in life, your career, your dream (not necessarily job) but your dream life, your dream business would look like 1 year from today if you were firing on all 8 cylinders. And then reverse engineer back to what you need to be doing next to add that into your practice.

It’s a really powerful exercise; I hope you take us on the opportunity to participate in that.
